Open Spare Parts Export
Once installed, you can open ‘Spare Parts Export’ from the Windows Start menu, or from the ‘myCAD’ tab integrated into SOLIDWORKS.
In Spare Parts Export, select the SOLIDWORKS assembly representing the product to be exported to the application.
You can specify two important pieces of information to include for the product and its components:
- Description: The default setting uses the file name. You can change this to a property containing the description.
- The code: The connector verifies that the code is unique for the product and its components. You can select a property that contains the component code. You can also use automatic coding, which will generate a unique code for the product and its components to be exported to Spare Parts.
Export the product to Spare Parts
The export button to the application opens a wizard that guides you through the product export process:
- Step 1: The wizard shows you the estimated time to export the product.
- Step 2: The connector prompts you to authenticate with the application using the necessary permissions.
- Step 3: The connector automatically generates 3D thumbnails of the product and each component, exploded views of each assembly, and the bill of materials (BOM), which may have been modified in the interface.
- Step 4: The BOM data and associated media are sent to the application securely.
- Step 5: The wizard displays the export results and indicates whether any errors were detected. The wizard also displays a link to access the product in the application if the export was successful.
